Conservative Councillors have been getting into the festive spirit over the past few weeks, attending Christmas light switch-on events across Medway. Pictured above, Councillors Chisti MP, Chambers MBE, and Aldous attended the Hempstead lights switch on.
Councillors Aldous, Carr, Opara and Potter were also delighted to attend Rainham's Christmas light event. Rainham was the last of the five Medway towns to have its lights switched on, meaning the whole of Medway is now set for the festive season.
Martin Potter, Councillor for Rainham North and Portfolio Holder for Educational Attainment and Improvement, said: 'It was an absolute pleasure to attend the Christmas lights switch-on event in Rainham. This year's special guest was Paddington, who everyone enjoyed meeting. Thank you to all of the performers, including local school children, who created an enjoyable, festive atmosphere. It was a great afternoon which brought the whole community together.'
David Carr, Councillor for Rainham North, added: 'I was delighted to attend Rainham’s Christmas Light Switch on event. I am very proud of the fantastic community we have in Rainham North, and the friendly and festive spirit of the event showcased just how wonderful a place it is to live and raise a family. I would like to thank all those who attended, and I wish all residents a very Happy Christmas.’
This weekend is also the final chance for Medway residents and visitors to enjoy the delights of the many shopping stalls, parades, and carols at the Rochester Christmas Market, which will be close this Sunday the 10th of December.
