Councillor Andrew Mackness, Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services, said:
“ I wholeheartedly support comments made by Councillor Paul Carter in relation to the coaching of children for the Kent/Medway test. The banning of in-school coaching, as things stand, totally fails to level the playing field for all students, given the stark contrasts between the support available to those who receive out of school tuition or attend a fee-paying primary school, and those pupils of local schools.
It is the duty of every parent and teacher to ensure their child is given the very best opportunities to realise their full potential – a sentiment which is at the heart of everything we do here at Medway Council. Making certain every child enters the exam hall confident and fully prepared to demonstrate the best of their capabilities is no exception.”
