Last week, we welcomed Schools Minister, Nick Gibb MP, who visited the new Maritime Academy in Strood along with Councillor Martin Potter, Councillor Josie Iles and prospective Conservative candidates.
This latest project represents part of over £140m invested in providing quality school places in Medway over recent years and we are incredibly proud that 90% of Medway schools are rated as Good or Outstanding by Ofsted. The government are continuing to invest significant sums in Medway, which is a strong endorsement of our progress, development and their faith in what we are doing to make Medway a great place to live, work, learn, visit and be child-friendly. Under a Conservative administration, education has flourished and we hope to continue that work after May 4th.
Cllr Josie Iles, Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services commented, saying she is “very proud of all the improvements we’ve made for Medway’s children. Children are the future and this new school will benefit Medway by providing early support and more school places.”
Cllr Martin Potter, Portfolio Holder for Education said: “Under this Conservative administration the council has an excellent track record of working with partners to provide investment in additional school places, including grammar schools. We have worked tirelessly to raise school standards and I am proud we are joint first nationally as a provider of good and outstanding school places to ensure Medway's children and families have access to quality education provision.”
