The Conservative Group and Medway Council yesterday gathered to celebrate the life of the late Councillor Mike O'Brien, through the unveiling of a commemorative Plaque in his honour.
Attended by his friends & family, Council members & officers, and the Mayor of Medway, the unveiling saw touching tribute from Councillor O'Brien's friend Councillor Kemp, the Leader Alan Jarrett, as well as the Chief Executive, and Councillor O'Brien's wife. The Plaque will be placed in the reception of Gun Wharf.
Councillor O'Brien was held in mutual respect by Councillors of all parties, as well as the officers he worked with. He will be remembered for his positive 'glass-more-than-full' attitude and utter dedication to his role on the Council. His commitment to helping the children of Medway was such that, even in the depths of his illness, his only concern was ensuring the work continued to make Medway a better place for the next generation.
He is greatly missed by all who knew him.
