In his report to all Members at the latest Full Council meeting of Medway Council, Leader Alan Jarrett congratulated Medway students of all ages on their hard work and achievements over the past months.
Medway Test results were revealed to be very positive, with 50% of those children who sat this year’s test being assessed as selective. Medway Pupils at Key Stage 1 have also enjoyed great success, outperforming the national attainment level in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics to place Medway in the top 25% of authorities in all three subjects. Finally, in year One, 82% of Medway children achieved or exceeded the expected standard in Phonics screening, exceeding the national level of attainment for the second year running.
The report highlighted the importance of education to the Conservative administration, whose leadership has seen the Council continue to fulfil its pledge to help all Medway residents achieve their full potential. Councillor Jarrett also celebrated the news that 24% of Ofsted inspections of Medway secondary schools rated those schools as Outstanding - higher than the national rate, and the Conservative Group are delighted that a further 84% of those schools were also rated as Good or better.
