The Medway Conservative Group is pleased to announce that Councillor George Perfect has been elected unopposed as the group’s new Deputy Leader.
A proven track record
Councillor Perfect was first elected in May 2023, as one of three members for Rainham North. He has served since his election as the Group’s spokesperson for children, young people, and education, as well as supporting the Leader on external affairs and engagement. Outside of the Council, he is a public affairs account director, and a member of two Medway based multi-academy trusts.
Prior to his election, Councillor Perfect was Chair of Governors of Balfour Junior School from March 2020 until July 2023, and the youngest chair of governors in the history of the English school system on appointment. He was also previously the Chair of the Medway Youth Council and has served on several other boards in Medway. He has lived in Medway his entire lifetime, was educated at The Robert Napier School in Gillingham and holds a first-class degree in politics from the University of Westminster.
Councillor Adrian Gulvin, Leader of Medway Conservatives and the Opposition on Medway Council, commented:
“I am pleased with George’s election as our Deputy Leader. He has worked tirelessly over the past eleven months in his role as our spokesperson for children’s services and I know will bring that same commitment and drive to his new role. I am looking forward to continuing to work with him.”
Councillor George Perfect, Deputy Leader of Medway Conservatives and the Opposition on Medway Council, said:
“I’m delighted to become Deputy Leader of our brilliant group. The Medway Conservative Group is the most successful political group in Medway’s history, and being Deputy Leader is a great honour. I’m looking forward to continuing to be part of our Medway Conservatives leadership team.”
