The Leader of the Opposition Councillor George Perfect is pleased to announce his new Shadow Cabinet to support his leadership of the group at the start of a new era.
The new Shadow Cabinet, which will meet of the first-time next Monday, is as follows:
- Councillor George Perfect – Leader of the Opposition
- Councillor Gary Hackwell – Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Shadow Cabinet Member for Finance, Property and Workforce
- Councillor Barry Kemp – Opposition Whip
- Councillor Habib Tejan – Shadow Cabinet Member for Business Support, Climate Change and Digital, Chair of the Business Support and Digital Overview and Scrutiny Committee
- Councillor Mark Joy – Shadow Cabinet Member for Children’s Services and Education, Children and young people overview and scrutiny committee spokesperson
- Councillor David Wildey – Shadow Cabinet Member for Health and Adult’s Services, Health and adult social care overview and scrutiny committee spokesperson
- Councillor Andrew Lawrence – Shadow Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Community and Housing, Regeneration culture and environment overview and scrutiny committee spokesperson, Group Treasurer
- Councillor Phil Filmer – Shadow Cabinet Member for Planning and Development, planning committee spokesperson
- Councillor David Brake – Shadow Cabinet Member without portfolio, Group Secretary
Councillor George Perfect, Leader of the Opposition on Medway Council, said:

This team is drawn from across all our constituency associations, and holds both political experience from previous Portfolio Holders, along with new members bringing significant experience from business and the public sector to support our aims and objectives.
