Councillors from across the Medway Conservative Group attended events across the Medway Towns, to mark Remembrance Sunday. Remembrance Sunday is a national opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life.
The Leader of the Opposition, Councillor Perfect, and Opposition Armed Forces Champion, Councillor Doe, attended a service and laid a wreath in Rainham, with Councillor Anang. Councillor Tejan, along with Councillor Brake, Councillor Clarke, and Rt Hon Kelly Tolhurst, attended the Service of Remembrance in Rochester, whilst Councillor Barrett joined Reh Chishti, at an event in Gillingham. Councillor Joy attended the events in Chatham, whilst Councillor Lawrence and Councillor Gibourne attended events in Hempstead. Other members attended other services and events in Hoo, and Newington.
Speaking on Remembrance Sunday, Councillor Perfect, Leader of the Opposition and Medway Conservatives commented:
Remembrance Sunday is always an important day, as we remember those who gave so much for our today.
My thanks to those who organised events of remembrance across the Medway Towns, and to all those that took part in parades and services.
We will remember them.
