The Home Secretary, Rt Hon James Cleverly, visited Medway as part of the General Election campaign, yesterday. The Home Secretary joined our three Parliamentary Candidates Rt Hon Kelly Tolhurst, Nathan Gamester and Rehman Chishti, in Strood for the visit, accompanied by members of the travelling press team, and the election battle bus.
Our Parliamentary Candidates spoke to the Home Secretary about the increasing use of illegal dirt bikes in Medway which are ruining our green and open spaces. Nathan Gamester raised specifically the activity on the Barnfield Recreational Ground, which the Group has spoken out on recently.
This came on the day when the Conservatives announced a clear plan to cut levels of migration, by taking bold action with a new immigration cap. This proposed change will ensure that high-skilled and in demand migrants can enter the UK and reducing the strain on public services.
Speaking about the visit, Councillor George Perfect, Leader of the Medway Conservatives commented:
It was brilliant to see the Home Secretary in Medway yesterday, with our three amazing parliamentary candidates.
It is only the Conservative Party that can be trusted on the issues of immigration and anti-social behaviour.
The Conservatives have a clear plan, taking bold action, for a secure future.
